Senior AIADMK Chief Jayakumar Arrested For Assaulting DMK Employee Throughout Tamil Nadu Civic Polls


New Delhi: Senior AIADMK chief and former Tamil Nadu Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar was arrested on Monday for assaulting a DMK member throughout city native physique elections held on February 19, PTI reported.

Jayakumar and different AIADMK employees had caught the DMK employee, whom they accused of bogus voting, threatened him and took off his shirt.

An FIR was lodged towards Jayakumar and others after the incident led to an outrage. A number of sections of the IPC have been invoked towards them.

Chief Minister MK Stalin slammed the previous minister for taking “regulation into his personal palms” and “humiliating” a DMK office-bearer by “eradicating” his shirt on February 19. The Chief Minister asserted that the “regulation will take its personal course” and that the DMK would face the matter legally.

Alternatively, the AIADMK has alleged that they nabbed an individual who was concerned in false voting and was handed over to the police.

In a joint assertion, AIADMK coordinator O Panneerselvam and former CM Palaniswami alleged that Jayakumar’s arrest was a “precursor” to the “homicide of democracy” to be staged by the ruling DMK in the course of the counting of votes.

The AIADMK stated Jayakumar solely caught “red-handed” the person who had come to forged a “false vote” and reasonably protected him from getting crushed up and directing that he be handed over to the police, PTI reported.
