The top of the New York Metropolis Police Division detectives’ union urged Gov. Kathy Hochul to appoint a particular prosecutor if Manhattan District Legal professional Alvin Bragg refuses to implement the legislation in legal instances.
Detectives’ Endowment Affiliation president Paul DiGiacomo, in a letter to the governor dated Wednesday, requested her to “intervene and appoint a particular prosecutor to supervise these issues during which the Manhattan District Legal professional fails to abide by his sworn oath of workplace and declines to prosecute or downgrades violent felony offenses to be able to advance his private, unsafe, reckless, and private agenda.”
DiGiacomo referenced Bragg’s Jan. 3 memo to his prosecutors urging them to say no to prosecute some non-violent instances and to downgrade numerous felony crimes to misdemeanors, together with sure armed robberies.

Bragg, by a spokesman, dismissed the detectives’ union criticism as “political grandstanding.”
“DA Alvin Bragg was elected overwhelmingly by the folks of Manhattan.
